Long-finned Squid - Long-finned squid or spear squid?

While squid is very commonly eaten in Japan, it is less common in the United States. Americans tend to eat squid when they eat Italian food or Japanese food. This squid is referred to in English as both the long-finned squid and the spear squid, with the latter being a direct translation from Japanese. This piece of long-finned squid sushi was quite tasty.
