Cutlassfish - Is this a scabbardfish too?

This is cutlassfish. Interesting how what is a sword in Japanese is a cutlass in English. This cutlass fish is from Aichi. That means that it probably is not an Atlantic cutlassfish, which probably lives in the Atlantic. According to Wikipedia, some species are known as scabbardfishes or hairtails or Walla Walla. Still others are called frostfishes because they appear in late autumn and early winter, around the time of the first frosts. I am not sure if this a scabbardfish or not. Looking on the Internet, much of this kind of sushi was identified not as cutlassfish, but as scabbardfish.

Sushi Conversation Point

Customer: Cutlasses remind me of pirates and days of old.
Sushi chef: A Japanese sword is certainly a different image from a cutlass.

Comment: Note there is no space between cutlass and fish. It is cutlassfish.
