World Cup Streaks
Are you a soccer fan? Did you sit glued to the television during the world cup? Or did you travel great distances to watch? How many of these world cup streaks did you already know about?
1. Most consecutive wins
Brazil had 11 consecutive wins starting with Turkey in the 2002 FIFA World Cup and continuing through against Ghana in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
2. Most consecutive matches without a loss
Brazil had 13 consecutive matches without a loss starting with Austria in the 1958 FIFA World Cup and continuing through against Bulgaria in the 1966 FIFA World Cup.
3. Most consecutive losses
Mexico had nine consecutive losses from starting with France in the 1930 FIFA World Cup and continuing through to Sweden in the 1958 FIFA World Cup.
4. Most consecutive matches without a win
Bulgaria had 17 consecutive matches without a win from playing Argentina in the 1962 FIFA World to playing Nigeria in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
5. Most consecutive draws
Belgium had 4 consecutive draws starting with playing Netherlands in the 1998 FIFA World Cup and continuing up through playing Tunisia in the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
6. Most consecutive matches without a draw
Portugal had 16 consecutive matches without a draw from their match against Hungary in the 1966 FIFA World Cup to their match against Netherlands in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
7. Most consecutive matches scoring at least one goal
Both Brazil (1930-1958) and Germany (1934-1958) had 18 consecutive matches where they scored at least one goal.
8. Most consecutive matches without scoring a goal
Bolivia (1930-1994) failed to score a match in 5 consecutive games.
9. Most consecutive matches without conceding a goal
Italy (1990) had 5 consecutive matches without conceding a goal.
10. Most consecutive matches conceding at least one goal
Switzerland (1934-1994) had 22 consecutive matches conceding at least one goal.
Well, neither Japan nor the United States has any of the top ten streaks to be proud of, but at least we do not have any of the top ten streaks to be ashamed of.
